• IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NORTH AMERICAN DENTAL PRACTITIONERS REGARDING SCAM ACTIVITY

  • DR DRIELSMA HAS NEVER SENT E-MAILS TO AMERICAN DENTISTS.
  • IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN E-MAIL APPEARING TO ORIGINATE FROM DR DRIELSMA IT IS NOT AUTHENTIC BUT A PHISHING SCAM
  • PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT DR DRIELSMA’S OFFICE TO ENQUIRE IF AN E-MAIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED IS AUTHENTIC AS IT IS NOT.

For some time now, on an intermittent basis, a phishing scam has been targeting north American Dentists on a wide scale.  Dr Drielsma’s name has been fraudulently used in an attempt to give credibility to this scam.  Phoney e-mail addresses have been set up and used with Dr Drielsma’s name usually on hotmail or gmail servers.  We believe the scams originate from either Russia or Africa.

The scams usually involve a story of a patient being referred by Dr Drielsma for dental work in the US.  If a reply is made, a subsequent contact will occur and somehow money will attempt to be obtained.  One ploy is the offer to supply a certified bank cheque for works that is far in excess of the funds required and then asking the dentist to forward the balance to another party.  The actual e-mails we have seen do appear extremely suspicious and for most would not for a second be taken seriously.  However, unfortunately there appear to be a few gullible out there who may be taken in by  these approaches which make it worth while for these criminal elements.

Please ignore such e-mails
